Sneakers Sports Grill is a Perfect Fit for Sports Fans
By Beau Anderson

With football season upon us, die-hard fans are searching for the ideal place to satisfy their hunger, their thirst, and most importantly, their desire to support their team in its weekly battle on the gridiron. Sneakers Sports Grill in Tempe does more than its part to satiate these needs, offering large portions, a double-sided bar, and 35 widescreen TVs. A towering wall of crystal-clear TVs, alive with athletic action, is the first thing to greet patrons as they walk into the high-ceilinged, 8400 square foot spectator’s paradise. Team-specific table tops in the bar area, crafted by owner Keith Quilty, test the loyalty of devoted fans. Those put off by the thought of sharing a table with the logo of an opposing team can find sanctuary on the vast patio, where they can peacefully watch the game with a lake view to the calming sounds of a flowing fountain, the soft quack of ducks, and the cool refreshment of overhead misters. Much like the fans who pass through the doors of the sports grill, Sneakers wears different hats, offering patrons with varying interests numerous options for food, entertainment, and comfort.

One Sports Grill Fits All
The cobblestoned interior of Sneakers is divided into distinct sections with different focuses, drawing in families, the lunchtime business crowd, masses of eager sports fanatics, and the late-night service industry folks. While the crunch of a hard tackle or the streaming commentary of sports announcers can be heard from the bar area and patio, patrons in other sections of the establishment can also indulge in the visual, audible, and edible stimulation that Sneakers provides. Adorned with sports-related contemporary art that was specifically commissioned for Sneakers, the wide-open dining area is speckled with tables and booths and maintains the theme of views of multiple events from every seat. For those who stir in their seats, requiring more than just a visual vicarious rush, salvation lies in the hands-on game room that offers the interactive excitement of sport-focused arcade games as well as the opportunity to compete on a different kind of green turf, pool tables. Sneakers is also equipped with a semi-private section that consists of just a handful of tables, perfect for the family that wants to go out and watch the game without being exposed to the raucous energy commonly found in other sports bars.

Get Your Game Shoes and Appetites On!
Sneakers Sports Grill takes pride in the wide scope of sporting events it makes available for fans’ viewing pleasure, but does one sport take precedent over others? “During the football season, Sneakers has a 100% focus on football,” says owner Keith Quilty. “It’s the biggest and nicest place to watch the game. Sneakers has a Las Vegas atmosphere. We have the best looking screens out there, and when you’re watching sports, bigger is better. We carry every single football game, and all major sports packages. People won’t come to watch one game; they’ll come to watch all the games. It’s perfect for anyone who is in a fantasy league. We focus on Arizona teams first, the game of the week second, and our largest crowd third.” Sneakers’ variety on its widescreens carries over to its menu, offering diners options that include Garlic Knots with marinara sauce, Fish and Chips made with haddock, and the Italian Combo, a sandwich made on focaccia bread with ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone, sweet peppers, tomato, and lettuce. “We would put our food up against any sports bar,” says Quilty. “Our wings are the biggest you can find.” Serving food until 1am, Sneakers has daily specials, Happy Hour Monday through Friday, Team Trivia on Friday, and breakfast for the Sunday football crowd. Whether or not your team wins, Sneakers is the right place to come and play.
